Checksum gen tool seems to be taking forever


Meaning: The checksum_gen tool is an old version, lacks the ability to process very large firmware files
Solution:

  • Use a different version of checksum_gen tool @ (v5.1724 or above is recommended)

There are 2 files with filter 'recovery.img'


Meaning: The checksum_gen tool has detected two files having similar filenames containing 'recovery.img'
Solution:

  • Remove the file ramdisk-recovery.img from within your firmware folder then re-generate checksum

Error 1017


Message: S_FILEPATH_NOT_SPECIFIED_YET(1017)!
Meaning: The checksum_gen tool is unable to find the file(s) specified within the scatter file
Solution:

  • Ensure that you place all firmware files in the same folder as the scatter file

Error 1018


Message: S_UNKNOWN_TARGET_BBCHIP(1018)!
Meaning: The checksum_gen tool is not aware of the chipset of the scatter file
Solution:

  • Retry using the latest version of checksum gen tool
  • Edit the scatter file using any text editor such as Notepad++ then change the value for platform to the value below then save and generate checksum. Note that you will need to undo the change you made to the scatter file after successfully generating the checksum.ini file e.g if your scatter file was originally MT6765 then you must change MT6739 back to MT6765 after successfully generating checksum.ini

Error 5078


Message: S_DL_BL_SIG_TYPE_UNSUPPORTED(5078)!
Meaning: The checksum_gen tool doesn't support the chipset of the scatter file. It must be a relatively new chipset type
Solution:

  • Retry using the latest version of checksum gen tool
  • Edit the scatter file using any text editor such as Notepad++ then change the value for platform to the value below then save and generate checksum. Note that you will need to undo the change you made to the scatter file after successfully generating the checksum.ini file e.g if your scatter file was originally MT6765 then you must change MT6739 back to MT6765 after successfully generating checksum.ini

Error 5079


Message: S_DL_SCAT_VERSION_UNSUPPORTED(5079)!
Meaning: The checksum_gen tool doesn't support the scatter file's version
Solution:

  • Edit the scatter file using any text editor such as Notepad++ then change the value for config_version to the value below then save and generate checksum. It's not compulsory to undo the change to scatter file as SP flash tool is able to work with scatter file v1.1.2 (you can undo the change to scatter file if you wish)

Flashing Media Tek MTK Smart Device using SP Multiport Download Tool

Hi! Today, I’m going to guide you through the detailed steps to be followed to flash your Media MTK Smart devices using SP Multiport Download Tool.

Pre-requisites:

  1. It is always better to have the data back-up when we are dealing with the firmware and flashing things.
  2. Charge up your phone to at least 50-60 %, since the flashing takes some time and to be on the safer side.

Steps:

  1. Download and Install Android USB drivers on your Computer. This is the mandatory need while connecting the device to the computer.
  2. Switch off the device by pressing the power button for 4-5 seconds and then selecting the power off button. You should also remove the battery when the device is switched off.
  3. Download the stock ROM in your computer. But the stock ROM downloaded should be compatible with the SP flash tool.
  4. Download SP Multiport Download Tool on your computer. Extract once it is done. If you don’t have any programmes to extract, then download and install this prior to this process.
  5. Browse through the extracted options and find the SP Multiport Download Tool and double click on the same.
  6. It will prompt a new window identical to the one shown in figure.
  7. Move the cursor to the top left to the file options and select the option Open Download agent file.
  8. Locate the MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin file by browsing it.
  9. Now, Click the Scatter File and locate the Scatter file from Firmware Folder.
  10. After completing all these steps, tick the option BootRom+Preloader COM Select All.
  11. You are almost done with the requirements and options prior to flashing. Now, go ahead and click on Start All option.
  12. Connect the device to be flashed to the computer, while doing so press and hold Power+ Volume up button.
  13. The tool should automatically find the device and start the flashing process.
  14. Wait for the flashing process to be completed. You should get the success screen once the process is done.
  15. Disconnect the device and restart the device.
