For more than 15 years, the Feeding America BackPack Program has been helping children get the nutritious and easy-to-prepare food they need to get enough to eat on the weekends. Today, bags of food are assembled at more than 160 local food banks and then distributed to more than 450,000 children at the end of the week. We are so grateful to HomeAid Southern Nevada for their commitment to our community. They fill a niche that without themhundreds of residents would be without housing or a place to receive much needed services. HomeAid Southern Nevada has a heart of gold and has impacted so many lives.

As NVSAA Community Outreach Liaison, I have been blessed to see and be part of the colossal impact that HomeAid Southern Nevada makes in our community. Our association was honored to partner with HomeAid through all of our events in 2015 and 2016, as well as the Backpack Drive, Bag for Hunger, the 51’s game and so many more. Together our partnership is a force! We look forward to having HomeAid back as our chosen charity in 2017 to continue the fight against homelessness and hunger.

'I was a scholarship recipient at the recent Project 150 Scholarship Luncheon. I want to thank you for sponsoring the luncheon and for helping to sponsor my education. I truly appreciate your generous donations and I promise you that I will not take it for granted. I will continue to work hard in school and keep my GPA up. You are a huge blessing to my life. Getting through college and having a career has been my main focus in life for as long as I can remember and your donation is helping me reach my goal. Once again, I truly appreciate your help. Thank you so much for investing your money on my education. I will not take it for granted.'

Thousands of young people in Minnesota are struggling with homelessness. A 2015 study by Wilder Research found there were 9,312 homeless adults and children in Minnesota. The study found that young people are most at risk of homelessness, with children and youth aged 24 and younger the most likely to be homeless. Children with their parents accounted for 35% (3,259) of Minnesota's homeless, while 16% (1,489) are youths (minor and young adult) who are on their own.

Imagine that for one moment: Being a young person, attending school, after-school functions, doing homework, working a job...and at night searching for a place to sleep because you do not have a home to go to. And pretending that everything is normal just so you can function every day.
